President Bush's proposal to change the Fair Labor Standards Act would exempt millions of workers from overtime pay by reclassifying them as managers, administrators, and professional employees.
With wages in decline, Americans are already working longer and longer hours to make ends meet. These new standards will force many workers to spend even more time away from their families as employers demand extra time for which the worker will not have be compensated.
Stripping workers of their overtime pay is not sound economic policy and it's not good for working families. I will continue to oppose it.
